Worker's Comp Nightmare

Tuesday, March 19, 2013
Hubby was injured at work 3 years ago and has undergone 3 surgeries on his dominant arm. Anyone who's ever been in this, or a similar position, knows that dealing with worker's comp is nothing short than a major pain in the ass. The big insurance company is exempt from any responsibility and can basically do what they want, when they want.
Erie Insurance is no different. These bastards have stopped hubby's pay on several occasions for no reason at all. They're trying to play God with my family and they better be careful with that. No one screws with my family and gets away with it. I don't care who they are, what they do, or where they come from. Be prepared to throw down if you screw with the people I love!

We're supposed to bend over and take it up the ass at their whim and I'm not doing it anymore. There's got to be some tougher regulations on these people. I can't tell you how many adjusters he's gone through. One of them would take sabbaticals to his home country, leaving hubby to wonder if he was getting paid or not.

They've stopped his pay again because he's no longer in vocational rehab. His authorization for that expired on Christmas Day and they paid him for the entire month of January. For the past 2 weeks, there's been no payment, no notice, and the bastards didn't even return the calls and emails from his attorney.

I've had more than enough of this bullshit and it's time it stopped. I think it's time for me to start writing letters to everyone I can think of. I know there are people who sit on worker's comp without being truly injured, but that's not my husband, and Erie should know that. He's been talking to everyone about being done with this so he can go back to his normal life; whatever that may be now that he has limited use of his dominant arm and can no longer do what he loves - construction.

My husband is the one who has had damn near everything ripped away from him; a job he loved, playing catch with our boys, fishing, hunting, and providing for his family. Where to these bastards get off holding what little pay they provide without notification?!

In order to begin getting his pay again, hubby has to go back into voc rehab. This should be interesting because there are NO jobs! The jobs he was forced to apply to the last time were jobs he's not qualified for; concierge, accounting clerk, and so on. Whatever!

Okay, I'm done bitchin about how screwed up things are. It's time I refocus my energy into something positive, like writing letters to politicians (yeah, I know, it's a long shot but I gotta try) and spending some quality time with my family.

P.S. If anyone from Erie Insurance read this - BITE ME!
