Makeup Geek vs. Sigma Stippling Brush

Tuesday, March 19, 2013
Let me preface this post by saying that I'm a makeup addict from way back. I love all things related to cosmetics and have since I can remember. Sometime in 2011, I came across Marlena's site, www.makeupgeek.com, and I felt like I was in heaven. So many people sharing the same makeup addiction in one place. I was thrilled!
Marlena started her own cosmetics line, which includes brushes. I bought a few of those brushes a few weeks ago and, for the most part, I love them! The only brush I'm not overly fond of is the foundation stippling brush. Here's why...

MUG Foundation Stippling Brush (Available from Makeup Geek Store, $16.99)

The bristles are long and very soft and the brush is easy to hold on to. But, because the bristles are long and soft, stippling the foundation doesn't work very well. While stippling, the bristles bend and the foundation seeps down into the brush. I don't feel that this brush provides even coverage.

Sigma Flat Kabuki (F80) (Available from Sigma, $18.00)

The bristles are short and stiff and provides even coverage. The brush is easy to hold and use, and, because the bristles are short, the foundation stays on the face. This brush provides a nice, smooth finish to the face.

So, there are my thoughts on these brushes. I love Marlena's products, tutorials, and sites and wish her all the success in the world. Believe me when I tell you that I'm not discouraged in the least from MUG products. In fact, I'll be placing another order within the coming weeks.
